Living Legends Living Legends, located just outside Melbourne, has been established to bring retired champion horses back to the public. It is situated at Woodlands Historic Park. Living Legends is home to retired champion racehorses such as* Fields of Omagh, Might and Power, Better Loosen Up, Rogan Josh, Apache Cat, Doriemus, Brew, Paris Lane, Regal Roller, and International stars Silent Witness and Bullish Luck.
Living Legends is modelled closely on the Home of Rest for Horses in the United Kingdom and like the Home of Rest they aim to support equine research, education and training to benefit horses of all ages and breeds. Special emphasis, however, will be given to the care of older horses. Woodlands Historic Park totals over 700 hectares, and gives visitors a glimpse of the landscape of settlers in the 1840's. The historic Woodlands homestead is a rare example of an early prefabricated building and is surrounded by magnificent restored gardens, including the oldest magnolias in the state. The park also contains ruins of two other 19th century homesteads, Cumberland and Dundonald. An added bonus at Woodlands Historic Park are the kangaroos in their natural environment. *Note: The Living Legends champion residents often travel to events and may not all be on site on the day of your visit. Meet Fields of Omagh at Living Legends Meet Doreimus & Might and Power at Living Legends

and most progressive thoroughbred breeding and racing nurseries in Australia.

thoroughbred industry on all levels. This includes breeding, rearing
and selling, breaking-in, pre-training and full training services. Rupertswood Mansion- The birthplace of The Ashes. Rupertswood holds a place in the great sporting rivalry between Australia and England. It is accredited as being the "Birthplace of the Ashes". Private / Group Optional add-on
To make sense of how the whole Ashes story came about we will take a tour of Rupertwood Mansion. At the end of a long winding drive, nestled amongst mature trees, stands “Rupertswood”. A remarkable architectural expression of the more genteel, Victorian era. Its magnificent proportions and unique gardens lay testimony to the privilege and power that prevailed on these grounds. Built as a residence for Sir William Clarke, (first Australian born Baronet), it became a power seat in the great English tradition. Balls, hunt meets and weekend house parties were frequent. Anyone of note, in Victorian and Edwardian society, was entertained by the Clarkes. Many historical figures visited “Rupertswood”, including Dame Nellie Melba, several Governors of Victoria and a rumoured visit by the Duke and Duchess of York, (later to become King George V and Queen Mary).
